In just over twenty-four hours, 4/C Gresh Megget will departing on his first Sea Term! Gresh is a Marine Transportation major who calls James Island, South Carolina home. The Town of James Island is a beautiful island in South Carolina with a rich history. It is located in the deep blue waters of the Charleston Harbor and the meandering Stono and Folly Rivers. You can see marshes and a majestic trees. At one time, James Island was covered by farmland. Now, it is primarily a residential community that has maintained a small-town feel.
Gresh’s proud mom explains, “Our house is on Clarke Sound so he grew up boating, fishing, gigging, founder, and shrimping. His father is a boat captain and Gresh grew up serving as first mate for him. This was certainly one key factor in attending MMA as well as his love for all thing related to the water.”
Gresh is thrilled that his mom and her third grade students at Harbor View Elementary School in Charleston, North Carolina participating in Follow The Voyage - Share The Experience Program. In fact, not only will Mrs. Megget's class be following Gresh, so will Ms. Nolan and her third grade class and Ms. McMahon and her fourth grade class. Gresh hopes that the students learn as much as he does - and have even more fun.
