Spanish is the official and prominent language of Costa Rica.
Massachusetts Maritime Academy cadets majoring in Energy Systems Engineering are using Spanish words, phrases, and questions as they travel throughout Costa Rica.
The more the cadets put their Spanish to the test, the better they get.
You can learn along with the cadets!
Each day that the cadets are away, we’re introducing you to three Spanish words.
Here is today's lesson: (WARNING: It may make you very hungry!)
ice cream = helado
cookie = galleta
cake = pastel
Is your Spanish vocabulary expanding day by day?
Do you remember the Spanish word for red, blue, yellow, green, orange, and purple?
Can you recall the Spanish word for black, white, and brown?
Are you able to say the shapes circle, square, rectangle, triangle, pentagon, and trapezoid in Spanish?
Do you remember the Spanish word for apple, banana, strawberry, carrot, onion, and potato?
Did you forget a few? That's okay! Many of the cadets are finding speaking Spanish challenging!
Just scroll back to review the daily Spanish 1...2...3 posts to review any words that you've forgotten.
Incorporating the new vocabulary into your conversations with friends and family members will help the words "stick".
