Good morning, Followers -
We’re heading home! The TS Kennedy is bound for Buzzards Bay.
The cadets and crew thoroughly enjoyed their three days in Miami. On Saturday evening, we welcomed alumni, generous supporters of the Academy, and former employees to the Helo Deck for a late afternoon reception. Admiral McDonald, Vice-President Stevenson, and members of both Admissions and Advancement at the Academy also joined us for this special event.
In an enthusiastic speech, Admiral McDonald thanked our guests and shared the wonderful news that the Academy is one step closer to getting a new training ship. He also paid tribute to Commandant Bradley Lima who will retire in June.
People were raving about the wide variety of delicious food that Chartwells served.
Several guests have shared photos of the event with me. Here is a photo taken with Mate Melissa Turner.
Although it will be tough say good-bye to the warm weather of southern Florida, every person aboard the TS Kennedy is looking forward to being with their family at this time next week.
